You can easily find this one nowadays for about $100. I plan to keep watching HD content for a long time. HD-DVD discs are a lot cheaper than Blu-Ray discs at the moment, and so are the players. This is a nice, affordable high-def unit. Very much worth it. I've watched various movies after upgrading the internal firmware. Although it's "only" 1080i, the picture looks extremely good. No issues with playback.It's also an excellent upscaling DVD player.I have two of these.
I will not buy Toshiba products ever again. Love the unit but it is worthless now. I would not be surprised to see a class action suit against Toshiba.
The player takes about 20 seconds to load but not very long neither, i say this player is worth it because of the fact that there is so much you could do with it. I can't wait until amazon ships the dukes of hazard to see the experience, if you have a hdtv this would be a great product to buy, but don't get it if your expecting new movies to come out if they phase hd dvd's out but if you get the older movies its much worth it. I just purchased this thinking well the hd dvd players are going out from this company, was it worth it, I pondered it all day yesterday before opening the box. Going to bestbuy to get some hd dvd's well they were shipped back to the warehouses, so i went to the used dvd place and they had 7 of them that i bought plus another 2 at walmart, plus i'd say 3 or 4 on here, i put in a couple movies last night that i purchased, the phantom of the opera is the best movie, so much different colors, and the picture quality with the hdmi connection i must say is better then my blu ray player.
